- Service Animals
There is no federally recognized registry, form, application, vest or picture ID to designate that an animal is a service dog, a service animal, or a therapy animal. People with animals often purchase certificates from the internet that say their animal is a service dog or an emotional support animal, but these certificates are not recognized under the ADA.
Please note: Emotional support animals are not covered under the ADA. They are covered under the Fair Housing Act (FHA) which is enforced by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Emotional support animals are allowed in rental housing but are not allowed in public places where there is a no pet policy.
Service Animals In The Workplace: Unlike the titles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that allow service animals in public buildings, Title I of the ADA (employment) does not specifically address service animals, nor does it require automatic access for service animals. Instead, the decision about whether to allow a service animal into the workplace is part of the reasonable accommodation interactive process.
Assistance Dog Special Allowance Program (California residents only)
The Assistance Dog Special Allowance (ADSA) program provides a monthly payment of $50 to eligible persons who use a guide, signal, or service dog to help them with their disability-related needs. The allowance is to help pay the costs of food, grooming, and health care for the dog. This link also contains a link for Facilities that Train Service Animals.Employment

- Websites, Electronic Documents, and Assistive Technology
Accessible Information and Communication Technology (ICT) makes accessing electronic communications and equipment available to individuals with disabilities. Federal agencies are obligated under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to design websites and develop electronic documents so they meet minimum standards to ensure they are accessible to and useable by individuals with disabilities. Section 508 is enforced by the US Access Board. Currently Section 508 requirements only apply to Federal agencies unless they are adopted by a state or local government. (State and local governments are covered under Title II of the ADA.)
Title III of the ADA prevents discrimination on the basis of disability by places of public accommodation (businesses that are open to the public). Currently WCAG 2.1 guidelines are not a requirement of DOJ for Title III entities using the web. Title III entities are, however, obligated to provide access to their goods and services by individuals with disabilities. That includes access to Title III entity websites which must be accessible.
Assistive technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities.
Accessible technology is technology that can be utilized effectively by people with disabilities, at the time that they want to utilize the technology, without any modifications or accommodations.
