Arizona’s Disability Community's Ballot Box Challenges

Advocates and election officials in Arizona are trying to make sure that voters with disabilities have their voices heard this November in a state that has some of the strictest voter ID laws in the country. Arizona’s voter ID law requires a number of documents including proof of citizenship to get a voter ID. For many people, including many individuals with disabilities, getting an ID can be challenging, time consuming, and expensive, and it can keep many eligible voters from casting their ballots.

In addition, for those with disabilities, voting by mail is the easiest way to vote, but a law signed earlier this year has removed many voters from the early voting lists.
