Census Bureau won’t change disability questions in annual survey

Posted on February 12, 2024

  • The U.S. Census Bureau is not moving forward with changing its annual survey’s disability questions.
  • The change could have shrunk the estimated rate of disability in the United States by about 40%.
  • The bureau said that most of the more than 12,000 public comments it received about the possible changes to its annual American Community Survey were about changing the survey’s disability questions.
  • They will keep the current questions for the collection year 2025.
