DHS Looking for public comments on its environmental justice efforts

Posted on January 2, 2024

  • The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) wants to identify, deal with, and promote environmental justice that may result from DHS programs, policies, and activities.
  • The government should treat everyone fairly when they make decisions that could affect people’s health and environment.
  • This makes sure everyone is safe from unfair health and environmental problems. It also means everyone should be able to have a healthy place to live.
  • DHS wants to hear ideas to improve its environmental justice efforts.
  • On December 18, 2023, DHS asked for the public to answer questions about DHS’ efforts. You can share your thoughts until February 16, 2024.
  • DHS will also hold three online meetings on Zoom to listen to answers to their questions. The sessions are on January 19, January 23 (especially for indigenous people), and January 29, 2024.
  • You can get translations of the questions and information in Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese. If you have questions, email dhsenvironmentaljustice@hq.dhs.gov.
