EEOC has new guidance to help prevent harassment in the workplace

Posted on April 30, 2024

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has new guidance to help prevent harassment in the workplace, “Enforcement Guidance on Harassment in the Workplace.” It covers legal standards and employer’s responsibilities concerning harassment claims under the federal employment discrimination laws that the EEOC enforces. The guidance will help people feel safer on the job and help employers create respectful workplaces.

These federal employment discrimination laws protect covered employees from harassment based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions; sexual orientation; and gender identity), national origin, disability, age (40 or older), or genetic information.
