California Agrees to Provide Equal Access to Virtual Learning
June 22, 2022
As part of a legal settlement, the Governor’s office has agreed to support new legislative amendments to make sure special education students have equal access to their education through virtual learning. Last year, at the height of the pandemic, many students were not allowed to have virtual instruction through Independent Study, solely because of their disabilities. If approved by the Legislature, the new protections will go into effect for the 2022-23 school year, making sure special education students can get virtual instruction if new COVID-19 variants emerge.
