HUD Wants Public Input on Fair Housing Proposed Rule

March 6, 2023

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is looking for comments on its recent proposed rule about the Fair Housing Act’s requirement to "further fair housing" with actions to deal with patterns of discrimination, promote fair housing choices, and stop differences in housing opportunities.

The proposed rule provides that housing programs must consider people with disabilities and accessibility needs when looking at and dealing with barriers to fair and equitable housing, It also requires that these programs talk with organizations that work with older adults and people with disabilities. Public comments on the rule may be made electronically through regulations.gov.  Comments must be made by April 10, 2023.

For more information, see the announcement about the HUD proposed rule.
