Making Sure Tech Tools Used in Employment Decisions Comply with Federal Anti-Discrimination Laws
November 10, 2021
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is launching an initiative to make sure artificial intelligence and other new tools used in hiring and other employment decisions comply with federal civil rights laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act. These tools may hide and maintain bias or create new discriminatory barriers to jobs.
The initiative will look at how technology is changing the way employment decisions are made. It aims to help applicants, employees, employers, and technology vendors make sure that these technologies are used fairly, consistent with federal equal employment opportunity laws.
