National Institute of Standards and Technology Seeks Public Input on Removing Barriers to Voting for People with Disabilities
June 25, 2021
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is looking for comments from the public about barriers to private and independent voting for people with disabilities.
NIST will work with the U.S. Department of Justice, the Election Assistance Commission, and other agencies and look at barriers, including access to voter registration, voting technology, voting by mail, polling locations, and poll worker training. The public comments will be used when NIST develops its report offering recommendations on how to overcome barriers that voters with disabilities experience. Public comments are due July 16, 2021.
