U.S. Justice Department Reaches Agreement with San Luis Obispo County Jail to Ensure Physical Access for Individuals with Mobility Disabilities

The U.S. Justice Department entered into a settlement agreement that deals with complaints, under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), that San Luis Obispo County Jail facilities were inaccessible to inmates with mobility disabilities and denied them equal access to the Jail’s programs, services and activities.
The agreement requires the Jail to make architectural and policy changes to ensure equal access to its programs and facilities for inmates with mobility disabilities and to pay $175,000 in damages to the complainant for his injuries.
