Workplace Protections for Individuals Impacted by Cancer

For individuals with cancer or who have loved ones with cancer, workplace protections including job protected leave and protection from discrimination are especially important so the focus can be on recovery without worrying about job security. For cancer survivors, workplace protections may help as they deal with ongoing physical and mental impacts.

The U.S. Department of Labor has a new resource to help workers living with cancer, their caregivers, and cancer survivors understand their rights during this difficult time. On the web page, Workplace Protections for Individuals Impacted by Cancer, there is information on:

  • Taking Time off from Work for Cancer Treatment, Recovery and Care, and
  • Protections Against Discrimination, including a discussion of the Americans with Disabilities Act,
