Legal Actions by Parents of Kids with Disabilities as Schools Drop Mask Mandates

Children with medical conditions or disabilities can be at an increased risk of becoming very sick if they are exposed to COVID-19. When school mask mandates are dropped, their parents often must decide whether to send them to school, where unmasked children could give them the virus, or keep them home, where they could fall behind academically. Instead of having to make this difficult choice, parents of children with disabilities and advocates are choosing to file legal challenges under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The article, “As Schools Drop Mask Mandates, Parents of Kids with Disabilities Prepare to Fight” discusses various lawsuits parents have filed and issues surrounding masking requirements in schools.
