Making the World More Accessible for Disabled Veterans
In this video, the founding director of the Veterans Administration's Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL), Dr. Rory Cooper, discusses HERL’s vision to “create a world where all people with disabilities have unencumbered mobility and function so that they can fully participate in and contribute to society.” The staff of HERL work on a range of accessibility technology from wheelchairs that don’t require batteries to robotic arms and their products benefit both veterans and those who help care for them.
