New Study Shows Doctors Biased Against Treating Patients with Disabilities
A new study finds that patients with disabilities often have trouble getting good medical care and confirms that doctors are biased in their care of those with disabilities. The research showed most doctors were concerned about Americans with Disabilities Act lawsuits and some even felt they didn't have the ability to treat patients with disabilities.
The lead author of the study said, "education is needed, training is needed, but the problem in my point of view is that we don't have time to wait ... we have growing numbers of people with disability in the country."
