Practices to keep persons with disabilities at federal agencies

With the 51st anniversary of Section 501 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) released a new report, “Retaining Persons with Disabilities in the Federal Workforce“.

Based on the report’s findings and current promising practices, the EEOC recommends that agencies make sure that they have:

  • Required reasonable accommodations (RA) procedures.
  • Required procedures for processing personal assistance services (PAS) requests.
  • Procedures for processing PAS requests that their employees and applicants can find on the agency’s public website.
