ADA outreach and barriers to services for Spanish-speaking communities
11:00am - 12:30pm
Sponsored by:
Region 5: Great Lakes ADA Center
Description
The Hispanic and Latino population is one of the fastest-growing ethnic groups in the U.S. Within this diverse population, many communities have continued to face large barriers to their ADA rights as well as disability-related resources, information, and support services. Some barriers include limited access to information on their ADA employment rights, lack of knowledge about services provided by state and local governments, and a general lack of Spanish language resources. Outreach to educate Hispanic and Latino community members about their legal rights is an essential part of removing these barriers and addressing disability discrimination. Individuals may submit questions for the presenters in advance through the registration process.
