The National ADA Symposium

JunJune 9 2024

The National ADA Symposium has earned the reputation as the most comprehensive conference available on the Americans with Disabilities Act and related disability laws. The National ADA Symposium-Minneapolis will offer 93 sessions on a wide range of topics presented by nationally recognized experts on the ADA and disability issues.  We’re excited at the range and quality our session schedule offers as well as the many amenities offered by the Hilton Minneapolis.

On Sunday, June 9th you are invited to our “Find Your Fun 2024 Expo” in the Hilton Grand Ballroom.  This FREE event, open to ADA Symposium attendees and the general public alike, will feature local and regional recreation organizations providing information and engagement regarding their adapted and mainstream programs and activities. We encourage you to go out and “Find Your Fun” in Minneapolis as we’ll be highlighting recreation and entertainment opportunities you can enjoy in proximity to the Hilton Downtown Minneapolis.

Registration for the Minneapolis venue is open to the first 700 registrations.  Registration will close on May 25th or when the event is sold-out, whichever comes first.

We are pleased to announce our special Keynote Presenters will be Kimberly Dowdell, 2024 AIA President; and Marsha Mazz, United Spinal Association (formerly from the US Access Board).

NEW THIS YEAR:  APAC-BE Exam Offered!!

The Great Plains ADA Center is thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration with the Accessibility Professionals Association (APA) Certification Program. For the first time, the APA Certification Exam in the Built Environment (APAC-BE), the only national certification exam for accessibility in the built environment, will be offered at the National ADA Symposium. This joint initiative signifies our commitment to advancing the professional growth and recognition of individuals within the accessibility industry.

The written exam will be offered during the Symposium on Tuesday, June 11th from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM. ADA Symposium attendees taking the exam will receive the APA member rate, a complimentary year of APA membership, and waiver of the testing fee (a total value of over $600).  Your application must be approved before you can sit for the exam.  The application deadline is May 24th and seating is limited.  If you are interested in applying for this exam, you may do so at https://form.jotform.com/223044091869055

A national certification exam has long been needed in the accessibility profession, as requirements differ widely from state to state. APAC-BEs show their dedication to upholding the standards of accessibility, a commitment to superior professionalism, and an ongoing pursuit of knowledge in the profession. Visit APACExam.org for more information on eligibility, exam fees, and the application process. ACTCP credit may be available; check the APAC website for updates.

APA (Accessibility Professionals Association)  is a national association of accessibility professionals with knowledge and expertise in the built and physical environment. APA provides resources, a forum, and continuing education, and members include accessibility specialists, architects, interior designers, engineers, ADA coordinators, building officials, and others who work to make the world a more accessible place. Visit AccessibilityProfessionals.org to learn more.  APAC will also be at Exhibit Booth #7 so be sure to stop by, say hello and to find out more.
